AARON ALLSTON WILL BE AT DRAGON*CONSo I was trying to catch up on LJ, and after I saw him post that (he has an LJ now!), I just stopped lol. Because that just made my freaking week :D I finally will have a chance to meet him!! <3
OK lol, let's talk about Greece =P
Um. It hasn't been the best week, by far. In fact, its been pretty terrible. After an absolutely horrendous experience
getting here, I have been feeling utterly exhausted all week, to the point of feeling ill, and not being able to enjoy myself or do anything noteworthy. I feel bad for my mom because she's had to go off and do/see things by herself while I lay in bed trying to catch up on sleep, and failing (the beds at this hotel are rock hard and impossible for me to sleep on).
Also, despite the happiness provided by the hotel's free wi-fi, my laptop cord will not fit in these stupid weird Greek outlets, and I can't find an adaptor anywhere! And no one knows where to find one. Geeze people, I can't be the only person in Athens with an American laptop? O_o
This internet cafe is really nice, though, and right by our hotel. And they are playing good, American music :) I can only handle Greek music in limited quantities.
I don't really have much else to say, because I haven't actually done much, thanks to be exhausted. I swear I nearly died the other day at the Archaeology Museum, which is one thing I was looking forward to quite a bit. I ended up sitting in the lobby trying not to pass out and/or throw up for two hours while my mom went through the museum.
Besides that, we went to the island of Hydra yesterday, which was my favorite place on my last trip, but we only stayed for a few hours because of the ferry schedule. It was a lovely day though, and I enjoyed myself. I had freshly caught swordfish :D Delicious~
I got awesome knock-off Lacoste sunglasses for really cheap yesterday XD I love all the knock-off stuff here. There is absolutely no difference between the fakes and the real ones, besides the manufacturing place, I think. Even the fake Gucci bags and shiz are made with real leather and materials, but they only cost 20 euros.
I continue to be intimidated by the Greek people and their constant stares :( I think I just worry too much about looking out of place. Sometimes I wish I could be as oblivious as my mother, who is never embarrassed about anything (but embarrasses me lol).
I have some updates on twitter if you wanna follow those too:
twitter.com/maplecroix
(read about London there heheh)
I am already running out of clothing D: Maybe I'll just go buy some more lmao. I LOVE EUROPEAN CLOTHING STORES <3 Mango has a really nice collection right now and I was planning on going to buy a dress there today :)
Tomorrow I hop on a plane to Vienna, Austria, for a day and a half. I will probably hit up the Kunsthistorisches museum tomorrow and have a nice Viener schnitzel in the evening, and maybe some shopping along Marishilferstrasse and/or Kartnerstrasse. Friday I may go to the Albertina museum, or Mozarthaus, or the Lippazener Stallion museum (I think you can see them in their stables!), and then the Vienner Mozart Orchestra performance at the Musikverein in the evening, after a nice dinner at a nearby cafe that's supposed to be very good. I am really excited and hope to be sufficiently rested :)
And then Saturday I finally go to Korinth for my program. I cannot WAIT to get all settled in and unpacked. I hate living out of a suitcase like this xP Kind of sucks, though, that I'm in a 3-person room. I really hope we all have sufficient space :(
Mmkay, uh, I think that's it? See you again in another few days. I'mma go get myself a souvlaki gyro from Pita Pan :D Heh. Pita Pan.
...dammit, the guy just turned off Take On Me and put on Britney Spears instead D: What.
Aw, apparently 200 euros comes out to $265 when taken from my debit account :( That sort of sucks.
